The General Accountant is an intermediate position that provides accounting support and uses Generally Accepted Accounting Principles to ensure accurate and timely internal and external financial reporting.


  • Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Documents financial transactions by entering account information.
  • Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options.
  • Summarizes current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports.
  • Reconciles financial data by collecting and analyzing account information.
  • Maintains Accounts Receivables by accounting for cash receipts.
  • Assists in the preparation of the monthly and annual closing processes.
  • Assists in Federal state and local tax compliance.
  • Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
  • Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
  • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience is required
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local taxes in the Oil Industry strongly preferred.
  • Experience in QuickBooks is required.
  • Experience in Deltek Costpoint is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with MS Office; strong MS Excel and Word skills are required
  • Associate degree in Accounting required.
  • Advanced computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint).
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work as a functioning member of a team.
  • Detail oriented and the ability to multi-task.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision, be exceedingly well organized, flexible.
  • Proven ability to exercise mature judgment – specifically in recognizing and respecting the confidential nature of corporate and personnel matters



Physical Demands

Work Environment

The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting and in some off site locations during project transitioning with a wide variety of people in different functions, personalities and abilities

Work Schedule

25 hours per week.  May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignments or projects.
