Overview

This position is responsible for the effective administration of all maintenance work orders, Maintenance Action Forms (MAFs). The Maintenance Scheduler is responsible to the Site Manager for the efficient and effective use of planning and scheduling of all resources to conduct maintenance activities which result in minimum downtime and maximum productivity. The Maintenance Scheduler will set MAF priority level, develop job plans, define parts and material and engage the proper resources to develop a safe, effective and efficient maintenance control plan. In addition, the Maintenance Scheduler provides the equipment-related expertise and technical guidance on improving Preventive Maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Once a valid work request is submitted, will prioritize, plan, schedule and follow –up on accuracy of the job plan for all PM and corrective work.
  • Focus is not only day-to-day, but is to be preemptive and optimize workforce productivity and minimize range and equipment downtime by managing work two weeks to one month in advance.
  • Review the work to be performed and determine the best way to accomplish it. The Maintenance Scheduler will consult with supervisors, originator, production supervisors, planner/schedule and stores as necessary.
  • Create and receive Purchase Requests/Orders in the maintenance work order and purchasing system.
  • Verify all material, information, tools and labor are available prior to scheduling.
  • Work with maintenance supervisors to determine resource availability and work to level the work force.
  • Develop a preliminary workforce schedule by crew ensuring all skills requirement and resource availability is met.
  • Actively participate with range scheduling to finalize priority of work orders to effectively utilize available maintenance windows during scheduled downtime.
  • Follow-up and communicate schedule to all resources: maintenance, outside services, and maintenance inventory.
  • Issue scheduled work orders with job plan packets to supervisors.
  • Address any questions about the job plan packets.
  • Follow up with supervisors and lead to ensure that completed work job packets are turned in, in a timely fashion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Technical, Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Mechanical/electrical background is necessary. 
  • Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated experience as a Maintenance Scheduler or Coordinator.
  • Formal technical training as an Electronics Technician (Military Specialist Training or Civilian Equivalent).
  • Intermediate computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint).
  • Should have good written and verbal communications skills and have demonstrated the ability to be approachable and tactful.
  • Have adequate craft knowledge and skill to accurately estimate labor hours, material requirement and skills needed to complete a job.
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to visualize and communicate the execution of work.
  • Knowledge and understanding of maintenance processes and proper use of the work order planning and scheduling as well as purchasing processes.
  • Can manage multiple priorities or projects simultaneously and keep them progressing to completion.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license, and be insurable by the company’s insurance carrier.
  • May be required to work extended workdays frequently. Overtime compensation established by local SCA regulations, if applicable.

Supervisory

Limited supervisory responsibilities required when operating as a Team Leader on task specific assignments (e.g., may be tasked to supervise SCA Laborers assigned to clean a training area.)

Physical Demands

Position consists of sitting for long periods of time, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and lifting boxes weighing up to 50 pounds. Frequently uses hands/fingers for handling, to work with such hand tools as wrenches, screwdrivers, wire cutters, pliers, and soldering irons. Seeing up close. Work Environment

Work is primarily performed in an office setting, but may also be performed in a maintenance facility as well as outdoors in military training areas. Work is often performed outdoors, in adverse conditions including inclement weather such as high humidity, heat, cold, high wind, rain, and various local conditions. Our mission is to support US Marines; therefore we work side by side with them in all climates and conditions.

 

Employee often exposed to sharp objects and may be exposed to some heat, loud noise, chemicals, lead and vibration. Katmai strictly adheres to the Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHA) regulations. Use of personal protective equipment is mandatory. Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities and abilities.

Work Schedule

40 hours per week.  May be required to work overtime hours as needed to complete assignment or project.  May require flexible work schedule.
