Overview

The Software Engineer III will update and/or modify classroom, performance support, and self-paced training products to modern delivery methods. He or she supports the design and development teams with the effective formulation of interactive multimedia instruction (IMI) and computer based training (CBT) products derived from sound instructional system design. 

Responsibilities

  • Update, design, develop, produce and integrate IMI and CBT, incorporating interactions, graphics, pre-rendered images, audio, video, and text, and animations for IMI/CBT.
  • Develop complex software solutions utilizing new and emerging tools and methodologies
  • Work in team environment to plan, design, develop, test and document up to Level IV IMI (game-based, virtual, and/or mobile applications)
  • Implement effective software in accordance with instructional design requirements/constraints
  • Work with storyboards and models to design the software development approach
  • Interpret technical documentation and work in conjunction with instructional systems designers, modelers, and multi-media specialists to develop accurate and effective IMI/CBT
  • Team support includes developing graphics, animations, textures, pre-rendered images, audio and text incorporated into interactive training solutions
  • Analyze software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints
  • Formulate and design software system, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design.
  • Develop and direct software system testing procedures, programming, and documentation.
  • Consults other engineering staff to evaluate operational and performance requirements of overall project.
  • Develops, researches, designs, implements, tests, and evaluates software products by applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.
  • Works with customers to determine software software-related learning solutions.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science, software engineering, or equivalent field
  • DoD 8570 Level II certification preferred
  • Eight-to-ten years of experience developing, testing, and installing software
  • Navy and/or DoD experience preferred
  • Experience with program languages such as XML, HTML, HTML5, CSS and JavaScript
  • Experience with development tools: Apache, PHP, Perl, SQL, Open GL,Unity CourseMill
  • Experience with developing Mobile learning content and Apps
  • Experience developing SCORM and xAPI (and LRS) learning solutions
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Supervisory

May be tasked to lead a team of software engineers/programmers.

Physical Demands

Frequent sitting, using hands/fingers, handling, reaching with hands and arms, talking, hearing and seeing up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth perception and the ability to adjust focus; occasional walking or standing, occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. Work Environment

Work is performed in an office setting. Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities and abilities.

Work Schedule

40 hours per week. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project.
